Many of us are no longer consuming dairy products and have switched to alternative milk, usually nut milk, but how are we using them? How are they different from dairy products and how are they similar?
Every morning I like to make coffee and for many years I used cream as my coffee creamer. When I switched to the dairy-free creamers I found they contained a lot of sugar, gels, thickeners, fillers, and no protein. "Totally Nuts!" is completely different. There is a mild, nutty flavor, it foams/froths nicely (like dairy creamer) and it adds some protein to your morning coffee.
Dairy-free smoothies are delicious options for breakfast or as a light lunch. I like to use the cold brew coffee almond milk with chocolate or peanut butter protein powder, caffeinated smoothies!!!! If you are in the mood for greens, mix some spinach, kale, coconut oil, and some berries for a little sweetness. We usually use 1 cup of "Totally Nuts!" Original Almond Mylk with 1 cup of water, and a scoop of vegan protein powder. This contains lots of protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals, and will keep you full for hours.
Anyone like milk and cookies? Or a glass of cold milk with a piece of cake? Our almond milk tastes delicious on their own and will go very nicely with a sweet dessert. "Totally Nuts!" Original contains only 3 grams of carbs per cup, no added sugars. Many of the other alternative milk contains a lot of added sugar, don't taste very good, and honestly, they just don't look very appetizing either.
